DESOLATE UPON THE ROAD, LOREN MUST FEND FOR HERSELF
The saga of the Nightblade continues across the nine kingdoms.
Loren is listless in the wind. Though the Shades have been revealed, the cost of that knowledge seems too heavy to bear. And once again Xain is clutched by the tremors of magestone sickness, giving her the excuse she needs to simply...not go on.
But now that the Shades have been found, they will not let Loren rest. If the Mystics learn what she knows, all the Shades' dark schemes could be thrown into disarray. Northwood will be the first town to burn under their icy fury, but as they hunt for Loren on the road to Feldemar, it will not be the last.

Shadeborn A Book of Underrealm The Nightblade Epic Volume 4 Garrett Robinson 9781941076224 Books
The sense of urgency and pacing that begins with the last third of Darkfire continues throughout the entirety of Shadeborn.Moving at nearly breakneck speed, I found Shadeborn impossible to put down during the second half of the book, reading that portion over the course of 1 night.
With Loren fully fleshed out as a character, we really get the chance to explore and understand the others in the group, with some very pleasant surprises, particularly with the introduction of some new characters.
Frequently in series when I encounter new characters this far into the story, I often wonder why they are being introduced and that it usually feels forced, almost as though the author needed some fresh idea. The new characters in Shadeborn do not feel this way as they each have their own place in the story, without it feeling like they just like some other character.
In the end, though it is in the middle of the entire overarching story, I enjoyed Shadeborn the most, and found myself eager to move on to the next story.
No matter your motivation for starting the series, I can assure you that once you reach this point, you will absolutely be motivated to keep reading because you cannot wait to see what might happen next... and as Robinson has shown before, you can never be sure what that will be!

Shadeborn A Book of Underrealm The Nightblade Epic Volume 4 Garrett Robinson 9781941076224 Books Reviews
The story continues in Shadeborn and we start to see where the "True" danger is and the villains start to make their real moves. If you liked the other NightBlade books you will enjoy this one. The characters have really become nicely fleshed out, I am looking forward to seeing what happens next in Underrealms.
In the fourth installment, evil is massing and wreaking havoc. Loren and her friends face great losses and great burdens. She must warn the High King of the threat posed by the Shades and Shadeborn before it is too late.
While I overall enjoyed the book, I did not like the addition of Chet, Loren's childhood friend and sweetheart, as one of the group of "heroes".
A continuation of the Underrealm series. Loren and her friends are still running from the enemy... Mystics, the Yerrin family ... never knowing who to trust. Now there's a new enemy, the Shades. How will this group of young people find safety and help stop the enemies?
Shadeborn is an epic addition to the Nightblade series. While the battles are intense and action packed, the author still takes time to really let you get to know the lead characters and develop an even closer attachment to them. The cast is somewhat expanded this go round, but the depth of the characters does not suffer. The language is not as awkward as it was in the previous books, Robinson has clearly been working on his skills as well as his plot line!
I am giving this one a 4/5 star rating because I do not think anyone should be discouraged from reading it. It is a great universe, and the story is well worth a read.
However, be forewarned There are a lot of technical errors (such as typos and accidentally swapping character names in a sentence). Overall good, though, and the progression has fewer stale segments than previous parts of the series!
I gave this book a rating of 5 because I loved it . I like the way Loren's mind works . She is smart and brilliant. She seems to find unexpected ways to overcome each challenge that she comes across. She tends to risk her life a lot for the ones she cares about. I recommend that s book to anyone that loves reading books about fantasy , action and adventure. I hope that everyone who reads this book enjoys it as much as I did.
This is Volume 4 in the Nightblade series. With any fantasy series, you wonder if subsequent books will be as good as the previous ones. From what I've read so far, it stays as good as previous installments in the series, maybe even better. You won't regret reading this series, I think. As I always say, I'd recommend starting from Book 1, Nightblade, if you're new to the series. Loren and her friends continue to grow up. She even meets the High King (which is actually a woman despite being called "King"), the Prince, her heir, and Loren even manages, with her quick wits, to save them from certain death, right in the center of their own power. She doesn't start out with much in the way of romance, like many fantasy series, but she does meet an old friend who becomes something more. I can hardly wait until I get to the next book in Loren's series.
